The National Disaster and Crisis Coordination Committee issued the following statement:

On its date, at 21:03, after the earthquake that the Lebanese felt, false news was circulated warning citizens of the danger of a devastating earthquake and inviting them to go out into open spaces.

The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Defense – the National Crisis and Disaster Response Operations Coordination Committee is interested in denying these circulating rumors, and clarifies that the information circulated is baseless, and calls on citizens not to take it into account and to look at information from its official and reliable sources: The National Operations Room for Disaster and Crisis Management and the National Council for Scientific Research – National Center for Geophysics.
