Dollars frozen in Lebanon of a Libyan source

The official representative of the Federation of European Chambers of Experts in Beirut Dr. Nabil Bou Ghantous said in a statement today that the Lebanese market is dumped with huge amounts of frozen US dollars, their serial numbers and their source is Libya, and the dates of issuance of these dollars go back to the years 2003, 2006 and 2009 up to the year 2013″.

Bou Ghantous called on the “Lebanese individuals and institutions to pay attention, through traditional auditing methods, whether by sight, by touch, or even by electronic examination, these dollars pass without any problem. Depositing these dollars or exchanging it in banks or entering it into the field of international banking exposes them to detection immediately, and presents those who are dealing with it, to judicial and legal accountability, locally and internationally.

He warned citizens “not to fall prey to greed, and to be drawn into calls, the most important of which are through social media, to buy quantities of these dollars at half their basic price.”

He appealed to people not to obtain dollars except from reliable sources, specifically from major banks, no matter what their price is, because large quantities of frozen dollars are between the hands of money exchangers and from where they do not know.”

Bou Ghantous advised “not to use or deal with a print of the so-called white $100, because the bulk of the frozen dollars are from this category, in addition to huge amounts of the fifty-dollar denomination.”

He said that “the promoters of these currencies, if they fall into the hands of law enforcement forces, will be held accountable on the basis of committing fraud.”
