According to EDL sources, by the end of September, and with a reduction in the temperature in Lebanon in general, EDL will offer people in Lebanon with a minimum of 18 hours of electricity, decreasing the need of air conditioners.
The Lebanese are facing a serious gasoline shortage as a result of market disruptions, the difficulties of importing supplies after the Banque du Liban halted subsidies, and the failure to create adequate credit lines to meet market demand.
The situation was compounded by Electricité du Liban’s failure to deliver the required nourishment to the Lebanese provinces, resulting in strict rationing and a growing reliance on private diesel-powered electric generators.
