Electricity file in Mikati’s discussion with President of World Bank Group

Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a meeting with the President of the World Bank Group, David Malpass, as part of the “26th United Nations Conference of Parties to the Framework Convetion on Climate Change” in Glasgow, Scotland.
The meeting was attended by Environment Minister Nasser Yassin and Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Ramy Mortada.
Discussions included the various projects that the Bank is working on in Lebanon, especially in the energy and electricity sector and securing the social protection network, in addition to , new and additional financing mechanisms, which will be discussed in the next stage.
President Mikati expressed Lebanon’s appreciation for the assistance provided by the World Bank during the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through.
Mikati also met the President of the European Bank for Investment and Reconstruction, Odile Renaud Basso, and discussed with her cooperation between the Bank and Lebanon, especially the financing of infrastructure projects and the assistance that the Bank can provide in the field of financing and facilitating foreign trade, as well as support for the Free Economic Zone in Tripoli.
Basso stressed, “The bank’s interest in cooperating with Lebanon, especially after Lebanon became a shareholder in the bank and represented on its board of directors.”
