The European Union’s Media Office in Lebanon announced in a statement that the newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon, Sandra Dauw, “commenced her duties this week.”

Ambassador Dauw held meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Caretaker Government, Abdallah Bou Habib, the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, and the Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati.

She emphasized the “long-term partnership of the European Union with Lebanon” and reaffirmed “commitment to the Lebanese people in light of the escalating social and economic crisis.”

She stated, “I look forward to working closely with the Lebanese authorities, civil society organizations, and the international community to put Lebanon on the path to recovery.”

She added that “the European Union continues to support the implementation of structural reforms that can help Lebanon build strong and accountable state institutions for its citizens. Institutions operating at their full capacity will also be beneficial for EU-Lebanon relations.”
