The families of the victims of the Beirut port explosion in Lebanon issued a statement in which they insisted not to interfere with the work of the judicial investigator, Tariq Al-Bitar, and to obstruct the investigation, warning against “the consequences of thinking about replacing him.”

The families of the victims of the Beirut port explosion said in their statement: “Our cause is the crime of the century and it must come out of partisan and sectarian strife.”

The statement added: “The crime of bombing the port of Beirut affected all groups and segments. It did not distinguish between one party and another, between a Lebanese or a foreigner, and we will not allow the blood of our martyrs to go to waste in the face of these interactions, obstructions and circumvention of the law.”

And they continued in their statement: “We address the Council of Minister to insist on respecting the separation of powers, and thus not interfering with the work of the judicial investigator Tariq Al-Bitar and obstructing the investigation”.
