The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

“With the aim of reducing the aggravation of smuggling subsidized gasoline and diesel out of Lebanese territory, Information Division’s Patrols of the Internal Security Forces,

On 10/05/2021, carried out several ambushes within the North Governorate in order to monitor smugglers’ movements. As a result, two smuggling operations were foiled, the first on the Jibrayel highway, which is a “pickup-Toyota” equipped with a plastic tank containing 1,550 liters of diesel fuel. The Division arrested each of the following:

K. A. (Born in 1966, of Lebanese nationality)

T. A. (Born in 1998, of Lebanese nationality)

Simultaneously, in the town of Beino, the Division’s patrols seized a “Hyundai” tank containing 2,000 liters of petrol, and arrested each of the following:

A. S. (Born in 2001, of Syrian nationality)

M. A. (Born in 1999, of Lebanese nationality)

The detainees and the seizures were referred to the Competent Authority in order to implement the legal requirements against them, in conformity with Judiciary’s order.
