Gasoline crisis to be resolved late this week

The Head of Gas Stations Owners Association Fadi Abou Chakra said that the gasoline crisis is expected to be resolved by the end of this week.

He confirmed during a radio interview that the main hurdle is attributed to the Central Bank’s delay in transferring the money to the importing companies to be able to unload the fuel from the ships.

Abou Chakra hoped that the new government will be able to find a radical solution to the fuel crisis. He called on the Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad to issue the price schedule for diesel so that oil importers that pay their dues in dollars could sell it in Lebanese pounds at stations.

The fuel crisis prevails in an unprecedented manner, as the country has turned into long “queues” of cars, amid severe outages of diesel and gasoline.
