GCC ambassadors visit Mufti of the republic, laud his ‘moderate stances’

Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, welcomed ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council to Lebanon on Thursday at his Dar Al-Fatwa residence, including Kuwaiti Ambassador Abdulaal Al-Qinai, Saudi Arabian Ambassador Walid Al-Bukhari, and Qatari Ambassador Ibrahim Al-Sahlawi.

In the wake of the meeting, Ambassador  Al-Qinai said that the visit had been an opportunity to discuss and assess the situation in Lebanon, as well as the relationship between our countries and brotherly Lebanon.

“We have stressed the role of this unifying edifice and that of His Eminence, the Grand Mufti, via his honorable, national, united, and moderate stances that call for unifying ranks among the Lebanese people,” the Kuwaiti diplomat said.

For its part, Dar Al-Fatwa said in a statement, “The diplomats expressed hope that the upcoming parliamentary elections would be carried out with full transparency to reflect the aspirations and hopes of the Lebanese.”

In turn, the Mufti of the Republic commended the fraternal and excellent relations that bind him with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and their wise leaders, especially in dealing with Arab and Islamic issues and in strengthening cooperation and solidarity to confront the dangers facing the region.

“The upcoming parliamentary elections are an important detail in the history of Lebanon, and we have given our instructions to our Lebanese sons and brothers to participate, not boycott, legislative elections,” Derian added.
