Head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, asked the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, via Twitter, about criminal scrutiny.
Geagea said: “Your Excellency the President of the Republic, what happened to the criminal scrutiny become, 6 months after the adoption the lifting banking secrecy law, regarding criminal scrutiny?”
To this, Aoun considered in a previous statement that “the financial criminal scrutiny of Banque du Liban’s accounts is an essential step on reforms’ path, especially since this audit was one of the first demands made by the International Monetary Fund, this demand was also mentioned in the French initiative’s first item, we fully support this initiative that was launched by French President Emmanuel Macron on the first of last September at the Pine Palace.”
