Ghada Aoun continues her war on Riad Salameh.

The Public Prosecutor of Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, continues her war against the Governor of  Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh. According to “Sawt Beirut International” information, Aoun crowned the long period of investigations and raids, with the prosecution of Salameh, Societe Generale Bank Chairman Antoine Sehnaoui, Head of Banking Control Committee Maya Dabbagh, and the owner of the “Maktaf” company specialized in shipping money, Michel Mkattaf, for the crimes of “transferring hundreds of millions of dollars abroad, illicit enrichment and money laundering.” She referred them to the first investigative judge in Mount Lebanon, Judge Nicolas Mansour, and requested their interrogation and the issuance of adversarial arrest warrants against them.

These measures were kept within the frantic conflict between Banque du Liban governor on one hand, and President Michel Aoun and his political team, on the other hand, while they spare no means but use it in their war against Salameh. Judicial sources were surprised that this judge rushed to the prosecution before the expiry of the one month deadline for the search and investigation report, that was issued last week against Salameh, after he refrained from appearing before her in the session that was scheduled for Friday, the 20th of this month.

It is true that this allegation ends long months of preliminary investigations conducted by Ghada Aoun, in the file of transferring funds abroad, which included raids, break-ins, and dislocations of the Mutakaf company several times. It also perpetuates Judge Aoun’s rebellion against the discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Oueidat’s decision, who isolated her from the financial files.

Eyes are set now on to the first investigative judge in Mount Lebanon, Nicolas Mansour, to monitor his stance, and whether he will proceed with the prosecution and interrogate these defendants, or will he abide by the decision of the Discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Oweidat, who suspended her from investigating the financial files, and this procedure is considered illegal.
