“Good morning from the heart of Beirut,” tweets US’ Hochstein

Amos Hochstein, an American mediator who arrived in Beirut yesterday, tweeted via his Twitter account on Tuesday morning: “Good morning, Beirut. The view from the US embassy is spectacular.”

Amos Hochstein, an American mediator, arrived in Beirut yesterday afternoon on a visit that would show the uncertainty surrounding the subject of boundary delineation. Prior to the arrival of the American mediator in Beirut, interactions amongst governing authorities escalated in order to unite visions and approaches on the maritime boundary delineation issue, and a variety of opinions on the topic were documented.

In this context, the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, informed the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Yoanna Wronecka, during her meeting this morning at Baabda Palace, that “the Lebanese side will inform the American mediator to the indirect negotiations to demarcate the southern maritime border, Mr. Amos Hochstein, of the unified Lebanese position, regarding proposals to resume these negotiations, which preserve Lebanon’s rights.”
