Grillo on second anniversary of Beirut port explosion: France committed to Lebanon’s side

On the second anniversary of the Beirut port explosion, the French ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo, tweeted: “Two years have passed, but the pain is still wracking hearts. Today, I think of the victims who will not be forgotten, their relatives, the firefighters, paramedics, and all those who came to help on that day. We bow before their courage.”

“The investigation must be pursued independently and impartially, without hindrance and with the full support of the Lebanese authorities. It is not possible to rebuild a country and people without justice. The Lebanese have the right to know the truth.”

Grillo stressed that “France is committed to Lebanon’s side and is fulfilling its promises, as previously announced by President Macron on August 4, 2021, France has provided more than 100 million euros for the benefit of the people of Lebanon in the areas of education, health and food support. The Lebanese Red Cross is one of our partners.”
