Haroun sounds alarm, “the private hospitals’ situation is delicate”

Amid the resurgence of Covid-19 across the world, and the spread of the new Omicron variant especially in Lebanon, accompanied with the stifling economic crisis that the country is going through, the head of the Syndicate of Private Hospital, Sleiman Haroun, sounded alarm warning that the situation of private hospitals is very delicate.

He pointed out the hospital’s inability to accommodate Corona patients, if Lebanon is exposed to a new wave, like the last year.

Haroun, in a radio interview, attributed this situation to the emigration of doctors and the significant increase in the price of medical supplies which reached 85%,” stressing that “the intensive care rooms also have only 400 beds, and these beds are not enough.”

Haroun called for “external financial support to save the situation of private hospitals due to the lifting of subsidies on medical supplies.”

He concluded: “The doctor’s emigration has weakened our capabilities and our ability to confront the pandemic.”
