Head of the Syndicate of Private Hospitals Owners, Suleiman Haroun, confirmed that hospitals are going through a difficult crisis, as they have problems with medicines and laboratory reagents, and this situation cannot continue.
Haroun pointed out, in a radio interview, that if this situation continues, “we will have to suspend surgeries and many laboratory tests, considering that the wrong subsidy methods have led to the loss of medicines and medical supplies, stressing that it is not the supplier who should be supported, but rather the guarantors in order to pay the patients’ bills.
He also warned that most dangerous of all is that drugs are available in stocks at the merchants, waiting to be supported by Banque du Liban, to be distributed, saying: “There is a responsibility on a definite party, since the drugs are in the country, but it is not reaching hospitals and the patients, so who is responsible for this ?
