MD. Clinical Professor Division of Infectious Diseases Chair, Jacques Mokhbat, confirmed that so far, genetic studies in Lebanon have not shown the presence of the omicron mutant, but only the presence of the delta mutant.

In a radio interview, Mokhbat stated that “the new mutant has symptoms comparable to the ordinary symptoms, but it has respiratory symptoms more than bodily pain symptoms.”

“We are waiting for the results of worldwide research to determine if the existing vaccinations defend against the new mutant,” he stated, adding that “there are studies that show there is no reason to fear since their threat is not bigger than the previous mutant, even though they spread fast.”
