Hasbani: We will not participate in a general assembly session except to elect a president

Former Deputy Prime Minister, Representative Ghassan Hasbani, said in a statement that “in light of the vacuum in the first presidency, the General Assembly of the House of Representatives can only be convened in order to elect a president of the republic.”

Stressing on “the continuing keenness of the Lebanese Forces on accountability in all its forms and mechanisms,” noting that “the Strong Republic bloc was among those who pushed for referring the file of accusation in the matter of communications to the House of Representatives,” pointing out that they “based on their firm position regarding the inadmissibility of the general assembly, except to elect a president of the republic, they will not attend the parliament session on Wednesday.”

Hasbani concluded, “When everyone assumes their responsibilities and elects a president, and this must happen as soon as possible, legislative and executive life can return to normal.”
