The Press office of the Minister of Public Health Firas Abiad, confirmed that the news claiming the appearance of the first case of “Omicron” variant in Lebanon is untrue.”

The Press Office stressed that “there is no laboratory-confirmed Omicron infection so far in Lebanon.”

Several groups have reported on social media news attributed to Al-Arabiya channel, stating that “Lebanon records the first infection with Omicron, the new Covid-19 strain.”

However, these allegations are not true.
