A source within Hezbollah clarified that the party wasn’t involved in the negotiations related to the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of prisoners between the Israeli occupation authorities and the Islamic Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, which was announced today through Qatari-American mediation.
The source stressed to “Al Jazeera” that “Southern Lebanon stands in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, and thus any cessation of fighting there will impact Lebanon.”
Additionally, the source affirmed that Hezbollah would adhere to the ceasefire if Israeli forces committed to it, warning that “any Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon or Gaza during the ceasefire will be met with a response from Hezbollah.”
This comes as the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday morning the success of joint mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States between Israel and the Islamic Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. This effort resulted in a humanitarian ceasefire agreement, with the implementation expected within 24 hours.
