Head of Gas Station Owners Syndicate Fadi Abou Chakra
The Representative of Lebanon’s Fuel Distributors, Fadi Abou Shakra, confirmed that diesel is indispensable for life, explaining that there is a high demand for the substance, while diesel is available in vulnerable quantities in the market.
“Gasoline is supplied and distributed to stations,” Abou Shakra stated in a televised interview, “but there is a high demand for gasoline, and we wonder how these quantities disappear.”
In addition to the medicine crisis and the national currency’s drop to a record low against the dollar, Lebanon is dealing with a gasoline and diesel shortage, as a few gas stations across the country open their doors for a limited time to thousands of cars and long lines causing a traffic gridlock.
