In pictures, Lebanese government appoints anti-Saudi and anti-Arab Information Minister

President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, and Prime Minister Najib Mikati, signed a decree appointing Ziad Makari as Minister of Information, succeeding former Minister Georges Kordahi, who had submitted his resignation on December 3, 2021.

Makari’s appointment came on the background of his nomination by the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, who considered that “the current government may continue its work in the event that presidential elections do not take place, so no room will be left for the “blocking third”, referring to Gebran Bassil.

But the irony is that the government has replaced Georges Kordahi, whose statements insulted Lebanon’s relations with the Gulf brothers, with Minister Makari, who is also famous for his stances against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially in the issue of “former Prime Minister Saad Hariri” who presented his resignation from Riyadh years ago, as well as in the case of the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, whom Makari considered “deserves the award for the dumbest crime in human history, undisputed, of course.”

In one of his tweets via his Twitter account, Makari says: “On the International Quds Day, remember how the Arabs sold #Palestine and its cause, and do not forget to pray for the resistance in Lebanon.”

In another tweet, he spoke about a meeting of March 14 leaders in Saudi Arabia, saying: “How humiliating it is to summon the heroes of sovereignty and independence, the leaders of March 14 to Saudi Arabia.”
