Indian meat invades Lebanese markets

The representative of the Union of Butchers and Livestock Dealers, Majed Eid, indicated that Indian meat enters through the port, and it is one of the worst types of meat, and its price is equivalent to half the price of fresh meat, pointing out that the percentage of butcheries and shops selling this type of meat exceeds 90 percent.

He continued in a radio interview: “We are not against frozen or refrigerated meat, and frozen meat comes from several countries, including India.”

He added: “There is a danger in eating raw, refrigerated meat. As for the many inspectors of the Ministry of Economy, it is not enough to carry out inspection campaigns at all points of sale, and I ask the Ministry of Health to take periodic samples in order to regularize the situation.”
