Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad al-Makary, on Monday welcomed in his office at the Ministry, Press Syndicate Dean, Awni El-Kaaki, with whom he discussed the latest developments and media matters.

Caretaker Minister Makary also met with a delegation that included President of the National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature Fadi Ghanem, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ghadinews and by65 websites, and “Al Mougharred” media website Editor-in-Chief, Retired Colonel Akram Sraiwy, as well as others.

Discussions during the meeting reportedly dealt with public matters and media regulation, with emphasis on keeping up with environmental media, and the need for a regulatory body in this framework, as well as the issue of training journalists specialized in environmental matters.

On emerging, Retired Colonel Sraiwy said: “We spoke about the necessity of regulating the media and adopting a new media law in light of the current significant number of websites.”
