Minister of Interior Bassam Mawlawi informed the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the General Secretariat of the Parliament and the Court of Cassation his decision not to notify the Former Prime Minister Hassan Diab and Former Ministers Nohad Mashnouk, Ghazi Zaiter, and Hassan Khalil before the judicial investigator, at the request of the General Directorate of Security Forces, because it should be made directly from the judiciary.
It is worth noting that Mashnouk’s attorney Naoum Farah, submitted this morning, Friday, a request for to dismiss Judge Tarek Bitar from the August 4 explosion case to the Appeal Court.
Information also indicated that the request submitted by Machnouk’s attorney becomes effective only when Bitar is personally notified, and the latter is not present at the Justice Palace today.
On Tuesday, the Head of Public Prosecution at the Court of Cassation Judge Ghassan Oweidat, asked Bitar to prepare a report that he was threatened by Hezbollah.
The Public Prosecution announced on its Twitter page hours after journalists and activists circulated news that Hezbollah official Wafiq Safa had sent a threatening message to Bitar, and that the latter responded uncaringly.
