Information revealed that the US sanctions imposed yesterday on Jamil Al-Sayed, Danny Khoury and Jihad Al-Arab singled out Khoury and not others by circulating his name on Interpol.
It is noteworthy that the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the US Department of the Treasury, imposed sanctions on Al-Sayed, Al-Arab and Khoury, considering that their actions contributed to the collapse of the system of good governance and the rule of law in Lebanon.
In a statement, the office pointed out that the three personalities benefited from the spread of corruption and nepotism and enriched themselves at the expense of the Lebanese and their state institutions.
Their names were included in the sanctions lists under Executive Resolution No. 13441, which targets people who contribute to the collapse of the rule of law in Lebanon.
“The Lebanese people deserve to put an end to the deep-rooted corruption that has been perpetuated by businessmen and politicians and led their country into this unprecedented crisis,” said Andrea Gacchi, director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
