The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division said in a statement: “As part of efforts conducted to dismantle drug smuggling networks and arrest their members, and after close monitoring and follow-up by the Central Narcotics Control Office in the Judicial Police Unit, which lasted for nearly five months, the latter was able to identify two members from the network: R.K (Syrian born in 1997) and M. S. (Syrian born in 1993).”

On February 12, 2022, a force from the aforementioned office, supported by members of the Regional Narcotics Control Office in Tripoli, set up a tight ambush, which resulted in their arrest and the seizure of a parcel prepared to be smuggled to an African country. The parcel includes 30,000 narcotic pills (Captagon), weighing 5,100 kg.
