Progressive Socialist Party leader, Walid Joumblatt, said on Wednesday that Lebanon was facing very tough days ahead, stressing that compromise has become a requirement.
In an interview with Al-Anbaa website, marking the commemoration of late Kamal Joumblatt’s assassination, Joumblatt said that a new government was the basis for any solution. He also warned against “any other calculation”.
Addressing politicians, he recalled that in the context of the ongoing collapse, he advised them to resort to compromise and to waive any preset conditions.
Jumblatt then saw that the presence of a firm government, which is capable of taking all the necessary measures, was essential, especially with regard to the rationalization of subsidized products.
He also pushed for cabinet that’s capable of holding successful negotiations with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to help remedy the situation in Lebanon before it’s too late.
