The media department of the “Lebanese Forces” party issued a statement explaining the fact of the attack on one of the martyrs’ families, stating the following:

“While people was heading to commemorate the first anniversary of the harbor explosion, and at a time when sadness prevails throughout the country because of this painful memory, those who plan to create strife in order to divert attention from this station, and therefore at this very moment when attention was drawn to the massive participation, the Lebanese Forces partisans, who are in the party’s center in Gemmayze, were surprised, by a large group of communist demonstrators, who belong to the party of Hanna Gharib, an ally of “Hezbollah” and not to the party of martyr George Hawi. They threw stones and some Molotov cocktails, which resulted in the injury of three of the forces who advanced to protect the center, and they informed their comrades of what was happening, and they rushed to stand by them in a clash that took place with the attacking forces and this clash continued until the arrival of the Lebanese army.

We have mentioned all these facts to refute all the slanders and lies, while the facts, witnesses and evidence prove that the aggressors who are not supposed to cross a side street deliberately intended that and intentionally insulted and attacked the “forces” center and those in it.

We hope that the media will speak the truth away from the alteration.

Yesterday, some media and social networking sites claimed that members of the Lebanese Forces attacked one of the families of the martyrs of the port of Beirut because of his refusal to raise the flag of the “forces.” Exactly the opposite, as a young man from my forces happened to be among the crowd carrying a small flag of the “forces”, so one of the attendees in his river asked him to throw the “forces” flag, but the young man refused to do so, which prompted this person to slap him in the face trying to extract the flag from him by force while screaming and insulting the “forces” and their flag, so those who were on the scene rushed to defend him.

It is reported that the intruder is one of the retired soldiers and has nothing to do with the families of the martyrs, neither from near nor from afar
