President of the Republic Michel Aoun
Lebanese President Michel Aoun has officially asked the Russian envoy for satellite images dating back to the August 2020 port blast in Beirut, according to a tweet from the Lebanese presidency.
It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin had commented, during his participation in the plenary session of the Valdai Forum, on the port explosion file, saying that he “frankly does not understand how any satellite images could help, if I had them at all.”
He said at the time: “But I promise to study the matter and if we can help in the investigation, we will not hesitate to do so.” He added: “I once again express my condolences to the Lebanese people, as there were a large number of deaths, in addition to massive damages.”
Regarding Hezbollah, Iran and the situation in Lebanon, he continued at the time: “There are different positions adopted by countries towards Hezbollah, which represents a great political force in Lebanon, but we undoubtedly always call, including in Lebanon, to resolve all disputes through dialogue.”
