Lebanese president promises accountability regarding Central Bank audit: Statement

Lebanon’s President Michel Aoun pledged the Lebanese people responsibility in relation to an audit of the country’s Central Bank, according to a statement issued by his media office on Monday.

Aoun is monitoring efforts to eliminate “artificial impediments” that are preventing the auditing firm from carrying out its job and “promises the public that accountability is on the way,” according to his media office.

Earlier this month, Lebanon’s Central Bank’s employee union stated that it does not want personal data turned over to the restructuring firm Alvarez and Marsal (A&M), which might complicate efforts to conduct a forensic audit.
