“Lebanon is committed to implementing Resolution No. 1701,” says President Aoun

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, will chair at 3:30 this afternoon at Baabda Palace the cabinet session called for by Prime Minister Najib Mikati. The session’s agenda includes 18 items, the most prominent of which is the proposal of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities to study on the adoption of the megacenter mechanism in the 2022 parliamentary elections, in addition to the Ministry of Justice’s presentation of the recommendations of the ministerial committee.

President Aoun had received Justice Minister Henry Khoury and discussed with him issues related to his ministry, in addition to the deliberations in the ministerial committees, especially the committee that discussed the issue of “Megacenter.” The research also touched on the difficulties facing the work of the courts in the stressful living and economic conditions.

President Aoun received Tourism Minister Eng. Walid Nassar and Lebanon’s Consul in Tuscany (Italy) Charbel Chbeir.. The projects discussed by Minister Nassar during his recent visit to Florence were tackled, and the meetings he held with Italian officials to discuss tourism cooperation between the two countries, in addition to the activities that Consul Chabeir performs it in the cultural, tourism and spiritual fields, and sponsors the Lebanese community in Tuscany.

President Aoun praised the efforts made by Consul Chbeir to enhance communication between the resident Lebanon and the expanding Lebanon, considering that “such achievements maintain the relationship between the Lebanese abroad and their motherland.”

President Aoun received the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon Joanna Wronecka and discussed with her the outlines of the briefing she intends to submit to the UN Security Council on March 17 on the situation in Lebanon and the implementation of Resolution 1701.

President Aoun reiterated to Ambassador Wronecka “Lebanon’s commitment to implement Resolution No. 1701 and support the work of “UNIFIL” in coordination with the Lebanese Army.” He also affirmed his commitment to “working to hold the parliamentary elections on time on May 15, and following up on negotiations with the International Monetary Fund to approve the economic and financial recovery plan. “.

Ambassador Wronecka expressed her satisfaction with the support he received from the President of the Republic in her work as the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon.
