Lebanon reports 1,008 new Covid-19 infections, 15 fatalities

The Ministry of Public Health reported 1,008 new COVID-19 infections over the past 24 hours, along with 15 deaths.

The total number of confirmed cases stands now at 610,197 while the overall tally of fatalities is 8,240.

The healthcare sector in Lebanon is struggling and facing several challenges on different levels, which is not limited to the fuel crisis, but rather securing the required medicine and medical supplies. The health sector will be affected severely by the repercussions of the crises in the coming days.

The outages in medicines and medical equipment is considered the main hurdle, securing these requirements to hospitals is not easy, nor is it a multi-source, as is the case with fuel. In this context, the Head of the Syndicate of Private Hospitals warned that the situation in coming days is likely to worsen for several reasons.
