The Ministry of Public Health reported today 995 new COVID-19 cases and 39 deaths.
In a similar context, the director of Rafic Hariri University Hospital, Firas Abiad, affirmed the following via his Twitter account: “The decrease in the number of Covid patients in the intensive care and the drop in the reported positive tests are two encouraging factors. In a country going through multiple crises, we need to hear such a good news.”
“Nevertheless, several related issues remain of concern. Despite the decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations, the number of daily cases remains high, and the rate of positive tests is still more than 10%”, Abiad explained.
“Nevertheless, concerns about side effects and safety increase the public hesitancy to receive the vaccine. The number of vaccines that landed in Lebanon is still low, which resulted in the slow pace of the vaccination campaign,” Abiad concluded.
