Lebanon’s COVID-19 cases surging again

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Public Health reported 1,022 new COVID-19 cases, and 8 fatalities.

In this regard, the Director of Rafic Hariri Hospital, Firas Abiad, explained in several tweets that the number of daily cases in Lebanon is still high, although it is much lower than the number reached in the last wave, indicating that our hospital received many of patients who were previously vaccinated, and this is undoubtedly due to the most contagious delta mutant.

“Another highlight is the huge number of requests for COVID patients to be transferred from emergency departments in other hospitals to our hospital owing to a scarcity of beds,” he added. “It is evident that many hospitals are no longer opening their COVID section or are requiring patients to pay huge extra fees.”
