“Lebanon’s epidemiological condition is extremely delicate,” says Lebanese Minister of Health

During the launch of the health awareness campaign in tourist areas, Firas Abiad, the Minister of Public Health, stated that “the epidemiological situation in Lebanon is very sensitive, and the surge in COVID-19 cases is concerning, with 1,900 new cases registered on Wednesday in Lebanon.”

“If we look at the hospital reality, we see that the occupancy rate for hospitals in the beds assigned to COVID-19 departments in Akkar, for example, is 95 percent, in Nabatieh 90 percent, and in general 75 percent.”

“We had a successful experience in launching the vaccination campaign in collaboration with universities and students, and we increased the rate of citizens’ response to the vaccination campaign from 20,000 citizens in previous campaigns to more than 65,000 citizens in the last campaign,” Abiad concluded.
