Pharmacists staged a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Health this morning, to raise a cry about the loss of medicines from pharmacies.
Pharmacists confirmed during the sit-in that they had not received a single piece of medicine since the caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hassan’s recent decision to issue a list of subsidized and non-subsidized medicines. As a result, pharmacies are empty and citizens are without medicine.
After the sit-in, the Minister of Health, Hamad Hassan, received the pharmacists, and told them that the problem today is with the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, adding, “There is a decline in the funds allocated to medicine by the Banque du Liban.” Hassan called on pharmacists to open the doors of pharmacies to serve the citizen, promising to solve the crisis.
