Mahfoud: New parliament will include deputies accused of terrorism and internationally prosecuted

Head of Change Movement, Elie Mahfoud, said that “Lebanon is based on both its Muslim and Christian wings, and any disruption to one of them disrupts the entire Lebanese structure.”

He pointed out, in a statement, that “the 2022 elections come under conditions and changes that are fundamentally different from that of 2018 ” pointing to 3 signs that must be stopped at, before the fifteenth of next May, namely: “The of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Mr. Hassan. Nasrallah’s mobilization of all its energies to support a Christian team, the accusation of the Hague International Court of 3 leaders of Hezbollah for the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, and the nomination of most of the accused and those wanted for justice in the file of the Beirut port explosion, for the elections, thinking that parliamentary immunity keeps them from the specter of accountability and punishment.”

He concluded that “the new parliament will include representatives accused of terrorism and punished and prosecuted internationally on charges of corruption and financial crimes, which will write the end of Lebanon, the model and the message.”
