Three informed sources told Reuters that Lebanon is likely to be placed on the “gray list” of countries subject to special monitoring due to unsatisfactory practices in preventing money laundering and financing terrorism.

Placing Lebanon on the list would be another major blow to a country that has been experiencing financial deterioration since 2019, and struggling to reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
