Ziad Makary, the acting minister of information, apologized in a letter to Reuters and AFP on Monday for how they had covered the deaths of video journalist Issam Abdallah and reporter Christina Assi.
Makary wrote a letter in which he blasted the two media organizations for “equating the killer with the killed,” pointing out that the two journalists had been wounded by Israeli fire on the Lebanese-Palestinian border.
“The Ministry of Information will not be lenient in following up on this issue in order to do justice and preserve the rights of martyr Issam Abdallah and wounded Christina Assi,” the letter stated.
