Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi confirmed, after the meeting of the Central Security Council, that “the meeting today was to develop a joint plan between the security services,” adding: “Everyone assured us of the insistence on the success of the elections and the readiness of the security forces.”

He added, “We will give all the necessary instructions to all municipalities to be at the disposal of the governors and the security services that we specify to carry out specific operations for the success of the electoral process,” noting that “the security, intelligence and information services will be there permanently to inform us of all the things we need, and we confirm the readiness of the security forces as of today, to keep track of everything in detail.”

Mawlawi indicated that “the participants stressed the need to prevent large gatherings that may lead to a security breach and stop sports activities and matches,” stressing that “sports activities and matches will stop starting tomorrow.”
