Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, on Friday commented via his Twitter account on Kordahi’s resignation: “The resignation may be one step in the right direction. Let’s start with a comprehensive and constructive patriotic sense by applying practical measures to protect our Lebanese society and the societies of our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Security, safety, and common Arab interests are our goals — always under the umbrella of Arab legitimacy.”

It is noteworthy that the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, announced his resignation to pave the way for a possible resolution of a diplomatic spat between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia sparked by comments he made

And the letter of resignation stated: “I submit my resignation from my position as Minister of Information in the interest of the public good, and I hope that you will accept the request.”
