Egyptian Medical shipment arrives at Airport to help victims of Talil explosion

An Egyptian assistance plane arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut this morning, carrying a medical crew who volunteered to assist the wounded, support them, and assess their situations, as well as medical supplies and medicines weighing a ton and 500 pounds.

The shipment was received at the airport by Hussein Mhaidli, Advisor to the Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Hamad Hassan, Chargé d’Affairs of the Egyptian Embassy in Lebanon, Ms. Cherine El Shahawi, representative of the High Relief Authority, Brigadier Ahmed Ibrahim, and Reda Al Moussawi from the Ministry of Health and representatives of the Ministry at the airport, the two doctors: Arz Zaiter, Khalil Khalil and Mr. Samij Murad.

On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Mohaidli expressed gratitude to the Egyptian government for “standing by Lebanon, especially the medical team that volunteered to help the injured,” noting that “Egypt was one of the first countries to send a volunteer medical team,” and that “Egypt has never failed towards Lebanon when it is exposed to any crisis.” He praised the “depth of the strong human links that unite the two nations,” as well as Egypt’s “humanitarian endeavors toward Lebanon.”

The Egyptian doctors, for their part, who voiced their sympathy upon their arrival, believed that “the Lebanese are brothers to them, and it is their obligation to stand by them, as they put their experience and work at the disposal of the wounded.” They stated that they will examine the situation on the ground by reviewing the circumstances of the wounded in hospitals and touring health centers, and that they will provide whatever assistance they can. They also emphasized that the Egyptian Ministry of Health’s orders in this regard are clear: do everything possible to help the wounded, even if it means going back and forth or waiting for another medical team to arrive.”
