Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s media office issued the following statement:

Prime Minister Najib Mikati regrets the emotional speech that was issued by the head of the “Strong Lebanon Bloc” MP Gebran Bassil, at a delicate political moment that requires cooperation between everyone, not the launching of accusations and positions arbitrarily, and the use of expressions of defiance and provocation.

The President considers that the most appropriate in this difficult circumstance is solidarity to ward off imminent dangers from the homeland, and cooperation between members of the House of Representatives, including Mr. Bassil, to elect a new president for the country, and nothing more than to put things back in their natural democratic framework.
