Minister of Education: Teachers demands are fair and I work on in-person learning

Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Al-Halabi indicated that “for the third year in a row, we cannot keep students in their homes,” stressing that “it is necessary to be careful and to take preventive measures, and vaccinate the largest possible number of them.”

He pointed out in a television interview, that “we have many problems, including securing fuel for teachers and buses, as well as the problem of electricity, securing diesel for generators, financial problems, arrears and unpaid dues.”

Al-Halabi explained, “I contacted the donors, and I met a number of them, such as UNICEF and UNESCO, and I had a meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and I presented to him some issues and solutions.”

He stressed that “the teachers’ demands are fair” stressing that “I am working on in-person learning.”
