Minister of Justice Henry Khoury affirmed that “there are no political or non-political interventions, and the law governs the investigation file into the port bombing crime.”

In a statement to a group of civil society women who protested in front of his house to demand an end to pressure on the judicial investigator, Judge Tariq Al-Bitar, Khoury pointed out that “I have no right to talk about the investigation file, and my role is limited to monitoring the judicial performance.”

He explained that “there is no threat related to this issue, and the judiciary is an independent authority, and Judge Tariq Al-Bitar is the master of the Beirut port file and has the right to summon whoever he wants.”

He denied that Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri had asked him anything related to Judge Al-Bitar, stressing that “Berry considers that the trial of ministers and presidents is within the authority of the Supreme Council to try presidents and ministers.”
