The Ministry of Public Works appealed to citizens “to beware on the mountain roads, and to wait until the snow is thawed in order to preserve their safety.”

The Ministry said in a statement that “since the early morning, its teams have opened all mountain roads, and sprinkled salt to melt the snow, in order to ensure public and traffic safety.”

In this regard, Wissam Abdallah, Head of Forecast Department at Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport, said: “The snowstorm is almost over, but its impact will continue to exist in terms of cold air masses and ice formation at heights starting from 700 meters.”

Abdallah said in a television interview: “The storm will continue until Sunday, as an trough accompanied by snow and active winds is controlling Lebanon.”
