Mortada: Our target is reducing deprivation burden in rural areas

Caretaker Minister of Agriculture Abbas Mortada has launched execution works for two agricultural ponds in Braisa and Karm Shbat valleys in Hermel.

Mortada said that the two ponds will help in irrigating 52 hectares in the region. It is funded by OPEC Fund for International Development within ” Hassad “project, which focuses on developing mountain  areas.

He stressed that “these projects aim at reducing the deprivation burden of the people in the region. He added that they have opened the Green Project Office in Hermel, in order to facilitate the administrational complications for the people in the region.”

He explained that, “In addition to these two ponds, a study has been completed for a pond in Kuwakh in Hermel, to be  implemented in the near future.”

Mortada announced that “the projects will continue to be implemented in mountains, as they are strategical agricultural projects, that contribute in increasing cultivated areas.”
