MP Abdallah: Karapowership’s wasted the state’s money

Member of the Parliament Bilal Abdallah, commented on Friday on Karapowership’s statement, the company which provided electricity to Lebanon from two barges, for shutting down supplies and turning off its generators.

Abdallah said on Twitter: “The cost of chartering the Turkish ships has exceeded $1 billion, while it does not provide to the network more than 250 megawatts out of 1650 megawatts required.”

Abdallah added, “It was possible to bring a permanent 1,000 megawatts to the network with the same value of money provided to the Turkish ships. It was clear that the cost of these ships on the treasury were very high, and the political party which covered and benefited from these ships, is well known. For this reason we say to the ships goodbye, without any feeling of regret.”
