Head of the Democratic Gathering, MP Taymour Jumblatt, welcomed in Clemenceau the Ambassador of Egypt to Lebanon, Yasser Alawi, with whom he tackled the political developments.
MP Jumblatt offered condolences to the Egyptian ambassador on the victims of the train collision in Sohag. He stressed “the depth of the historic relations with Egypt and the importance of the latter’s role, specifically in this delicate stage in the region’s history; one full of challenges facing the Arab world.”
MP Jumblatt also underlined the importance of Egyptian efforts to improve the Suez Canal after the recent tanker incident, “especially since the canal constitutes a vital artery in the international transport routes map.”
