Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, received this afternoon Deputy Farid Haikal al-Khazen, who came to well-wish him on the glorious holiday season, whereby the visit was a chance to review current developments and various hour issues.

On emerging, al-Khazen said: “We commended what was stated in the Christmas message addressed by His Beatitude this morning, which expresses the painful reality in which we and the Lebanese live.”

He added: “We stressed the necessity of reconvening cabinet sessions in order to run the affairs of the country and people and to approve the reforms required by the International Monetary Fund.”

“We also emphasized the need to restore cohesion between political forces and end conflicts resulting from interests that have nothing to do with the country’s supreme interest,” al.Khazen underlined.
